Configuring Data Table Columns

The following configuration is maintained in the Table Columns node in the Report ID branch of the RPM Report configuration Structure.
Parameter Description Configuration Options Example Settings
Table Columns This report supports the option to configure the columns displayed in the report table. Portfolio Demand Types:

Planning (PLN) reports can be executed across any Investment & Capacity Planning portfolios, which means selections could include demand from either work, strategy or outcomes.

This means a single set of table configuration defaults would not be suitable for all of the potential demand entity types.

To support the use of various portfolio demand types, table column configuration defaults can be configured for each entity type, and the report will automatically determine the relevant table column configuration entries for the demand type of the selected portfolio.

Up to four columns can be configured in the report.

Of the four configurable columns in the report, 2 columns will appear before the project name column and 2 columns will appear after.

Defaults for the four columns can be added to the configuration structure for each entity type, Work, Strategy and Outcomes.

The table columns will display in the order in which they appear in the configuration structure.Four columns for each entity type

Recommendations:

It is recommended that WBS parent levels are used in the first two columns.

It is recommended that the second two columns are used for key status and/or responsibility attributes
The following table columns are included in the default RPM Configuration for the report.

Configuring User Parameter Defaults

The following configuration is maintained in the Parameter Defaults node in the Report ID branch of the RPM Report configuration Structure.
Parameter Description Configuration Options Example Settings
Working Version This parameter determines the selection of the financial management version that will be used as the working version in FM calculations.

Can be adjusted to compare to (for example) a different Actuals/Forecast version.
A default can be set using:
  • version_id=Version ID
To override, specify the version ID number in this parameter.

The Version IDs for each financial version are listed in the ADM01 report.

If zero (or not provided) the version marked as forecast will be used.
The default RPM configuration is set to:
  • Version marked as forecast
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • version_id=
Compare to version(s) This parameter determines the selection of the financial management version that will be used as the working/forecast version in FM calculations. The parameter value selections will default to the version marked as baseline. Default is version marked as baseline unless overridden via selection.
Financial Measure This parameter controls the unit of measure to display in the report A default can be set using:
  • fm_measure=
Options for selection and configuration of a default value will depend on what's been configured for the chosen financial model. Possible options include:
  • currency - Currency (Non-Benefit)
  • benefit_currency - Currency (Benefit)
  • ftes - Labor (ftes)
  • hours - Labor (hours)
  • days - Labor (days)
  • units - Units
Currency (Non-Benefit) will show
the Cost from the financials.

Currency (Benefit) will show the

benefit or revenue from the financials.

Units will show the unit value of the financial account.
The default RPM configuration is set to:
  • Currency
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • fm_measure=currency
Currency Currency in which the amounts should be displayed There are multiple  values only if the multi currency option is enabled. Default is the system default currency  Default cannot be changed
Account Types Specify the account types that should be considered.

This is multi select parameter, values for selection are:
  • Capital
  • Expense
  • Labor
  • Benefit
The first 3 values can only be selected if the financial configuration includes cost

Benefit can only be selected if the financial configuration includes Benefit
One or more defaults can be set using:
  • account_type=
Options for configuration include:
  • ACTP$CAP - Capital
  • ACTP$EXP - Expense
  • ACTP$LAB - Labor
  • ACTP$BEN - Benefit
Add multiple configuration entries to set multiple defaults.
The default RPM configuration is set to include account types:
  • Capital
  • Expense
  • Labor
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • account_type=ACTP$EXP
  • account_type=ACTP$CAP
  • account_type=ACTP$LAB
Accounts This is a multi select parameter to specify the accounts that should be considered.

The values for selection will be the financial accounts configured for
the account types selected in the previous parameter.
The parameter value selections will default to all accounts for the account types selected in the previous parameter. Configuration entires cannot be used to override the default for this parameter.
Include Entities with Zero Financials? This parameter determines whether the report should return entities with no financial data.

These entities refer to work, strategy or outcomes depending on the configuration of the current portfolio selection.
The parameter selection will default to No, which will exclude entities with no financial data. A configuration entry cannot be used to override the default for this parameter.
Max Line Attributes This parameter determines how many line attributes are displayed in the table  A default can be set using:
  • Max_line_attributes=
If syntax is missing or blank, then the Max number of line attributes will be 0.
The default RPM configuration for is set to:
  • Display a maximum of 0 line attributes
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • Max_line_attributes=
Period/Ending Starting Starting/Finishing Month for the interval Default=Horizon start of the Financial Model
Default=Horizon Finish of the Financial Model
Default cannot be changed
Chart Detail Metric By Timescale to use for the trend chart Values for selection are:
  • Month
  • Quarter
  • Year
Default depends on the interval size (number of periods between Period Starting and Period Ending)

A default cannot be configured
Table Format This parameter determines the format of the detailed data table in the report. Users can select a formatted layout, with grouping either expanded or collapsed, or a plan, flat-table, format that is designed for use when exporting the report to Excel for further data analysis.

Options for selection are:
  • Grouped table
  • Plain table
  • Both Tables
A default can be set using:
  • table_layout=
Possible values are:
  • grouped - Grouped/Pivoted
This option renders a table with grouping

The latter option will provide both the grouped table and the plain table.
The default RPM configuration for is set to:
  • Grouped
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • table_layout=grouped

Other Configuration Options

The following configuration is maintained in the Parameter Defaults node in the Report ID branch of the RPM Report configuration Structure.
Parameter Description Configuration Options Example Settings
Report Title Configurable report title that appears at the top of the report. The title of the report can be set using:
  • report_title=
If a longer report title is required, then create additional report_title=xxx entries and these will be concatenated together based on the order in which they are listed in the configuration structure.
The default RPM configuration Report Title is set to:
  • Work Portfolio Financial Version Comp
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • report_title=Work Portfolio Financial Version Comp
Financial Model This parameter provides the ability to override the global setting for the financial model for this report The financial model for this report can be changed from the global default using the following syntax
  • model_id=
Model IDs are listed in the ADM01 report
No override exists as default

Financial Model will not differ from Global Default unless entry is added
Include Zero Financials Parameter that determines whether or not to include entities with zero financials in the returned results A default can be set using:
  • include_zero_financials=
Possible values are:
  • N - No
  • Y - Yes
If the entry is "N" (the default) any entities that don't have financials for the given set of parameters will not appear in the report at all
The default RPM configuration is set to:
  • Exclude Zero Financials
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • include_zero_financials=N
Detail Chart Threshold This entry determines whether or not the detail charts will appear. Because of the processing load that charts/graphics consume, larger portfolios could cause the report to slow down or even time out A default can be set using:
  • detail_chart_threshold=x
Where x is an integer for the threshold of the amount of projects for which a chart will be displayed.
  • If the threshold is not exceeded
All projects in the portfolio will be rendered with a chart
  • If the threshold is exceeded
All projects in the portfolio will be rendered without a chart

The default value of 50 should ensure that the report will run

If you don't want the detail charts at all in the report you can set this value to zero (0), otherwise change the threshold value to a preference.

Please note increasing the threshold could have a negative impact on the report performance or even cause the report to time out.
The default RPM configuration is set to:
  • Display Charts in Portfolios of up to 50 Projects
Expressed in the parameter defaults node of the RPM report configuration structure as:
  • detail_chart_threshold=50
