Enterprise One Q&As - Enterprise One and Connected Projectplace 2021

Question Answer
Can resources record actual effort hours in Projectplace and it'll flow over to the Enterprise One PRM timesheet? Projectplace does have it's own "standalone" time reporting functionality. When running connected to Enterprise One then a user completes their timesheet in Enterprise One. The Timesheet link in Projectplace provides a link directly into their resource's Enterprise One timesheet.
Users of Projectplace that do not have an associated FLEX'ed Enterprise One account will be able to use the standalone Projectplace timesheet. Timesheets for these users/resources will not be seen in Enterprise One.
How will card assignments flow back into E1 for Resource and Capacity Management? Consider two types of resource "assignment";
1. Effort assignments in Enterprise One that block out availability (allocations or reserves), and
2. Workload (Card) assignments that are made against Projectplace Cards (or the corresponding Enterprise One Action Item). These are visible in Enterprise One as assigned cards, but do not impact resource availability.
Cards/Action items can have Points of Hours of Effort assigned to them (not time-phased effort) and this can be used to understand more about the workload
What views are there at Portfolio Level? In Enterprise One, in Portfolio View, you can see a number of summarized attributes and measures related to the connected Projectplace Workspace and Action Items/Cards, including; the link to the Projectplace site, Card Counts, by status
Can you use the workflow in Planview to create a workspace in Project Place. Yes, Workspace creation can be initiated via an Enterprise One Project creation/initiation lifecycle, with ability to apply different templates based on work type.
What is main difference with these cards in project place vs leankit?

Both of our Work Management Solutions (Projectplace and LeanKit) have cards which are managed visually through Kanban boards.
Projectplace is designed to the "place where a project team works" to deliver a project.
LeanKit is designed to manage the flow of work through persistent teams and this work doesn't need to be associated with a single Project.

This topic helps explain the differences between Projectplace and LeanKit.

Does there have to be a 1-2-1 relationship between Projectplace and Enterprise One? We only have strategic projects in Enterprise One but Projectplace can be used more widely... we wouldn't want all Projectplace workspaces linked to Enterprise One. You can have standalone workspaces and connected workspaces. Standalone used for work "outside the portfolio", ie. Outside Enterprise One.
All workspaces are accessible through the single Projectplace UI.
Can LeanKit kit also be interfaced with Enterprise One?

Yes, we have a Enterprise One-LeanKit connector that allows LeanKit cards to be created in a selected board in LeanKit, and this can be initiated from the leaf level of Strategy, at Project level and also below Project level. You can also have new LeanKit cards, associated with a parent card that is linked to Enterprise One, flow back and be created in Enterprise One. This topic helps explain the differences between Projectplace and LeanKit.

Can you show how dependencies between cards is shown in Enterprise One Projectplace inter card dependencies do not flow back to Enterprise One action items.
Parts of our business want to use Projectplace and part are wedded to Jira, can you 'mix and match' integrations? Yes you can. You can have Projectplace and LeanKit and other tools like JIRA connected to your Enterprise One portfolio layer. For JIRA there is the option to go via LeanKit and using LeanKit as a consolidation point and to provide a more "business friendly" visualization of work, especially for those organizations that have multiple JIRA instances.
More information on our Agile Program Management solutions can be found here, which includes the TaskTop integration capability to connect JIRA, and other Application Lifecycle Management Tools into the Planview platform.
We typically don't have project managers at the "portfolio level" so perhaps explain what portfolio means as this is confusing.. When use the term "portfolio" we are referring to a "collection" of work (group of projects) and getting visibility of multiple projects in one view. Portfolios don't need to be fixed and a portfolio could be, for example, the three projects that I am currently the Project Manager of.
Please can you explain how the Schedule feature works in the schedule plan? As everytime I use it, it throws out my dates. I know it is used to work out the critical path but I still can't get my head round how to use it effectively. This sounds like a question specific to the Enterprise One schedule in Work and Assignments.  The concepts of Actual Dates and Schedule Dates and their relationship to Time Now is key to this. Recommend reaching out to your Professional Services contact to get some more detailed help.
Can I assign resources and effort to the plans from Projectplace, or must this be done from E1? You can assign resources to cards in Projectplace and this assignment flows through to Enterprise One as an Action Item assignment. These card/action item assignments do not include effort and do not impact the resource effort commitment profile in Enterprise One.
Can I edit & build the plan from Projectplace so it Syncs back to E1? OR is the plan integration only one way from E1 to PP. When a workspace is connected to an Enterprise One project then the plan is read only in Projectplace and all updates are made in Enterprise One Work and Assignments, and flow back (real time) to Projectplace.
Do Action Items take away from a resource's capacity? Action Items do not impact "effort" capacity. But we provide visibility of how many action items each resource has been assigned.
Can “Requester” Licensed users view Projectplace? Our "FLEX" licensing can make sure that all E1 users can have access to the Projectplace and LeanKit work management capabilities. You can also have "standalone" licensing for PP and LK
Perhaps it will be explained later, however, I understood that it was s possible to access Timesheet from Projectplace, too. Can we see how is it done? Because we would like that Team Members access only one tool, in this case only Projectplace, while Project Manager could need to access both the tools. You will see this in the demo. Team Members spend 99% of their time in Projectplace and it provides them with a one click link back to Enterprise One to open their timesheet.
How would Projectplace be leveraged to get a view of all work (project and non-project) so that it could be a one-stop shop for teams that do more than just projects? Projectplace can be used to many any/all work and not all work needs to be connected back to the Portfolio in Enterprise One. Users in Projectplace see (via My Overview) all of their assigned work, from any workspace.
Is it possible to create a board of projects? There is some simple portfolio management functionality in Projectplace that provides some cross-project visibility. We are working on a new platform capability called Visual Portfolio Planning (VPP) that will support this use case.
Is there in PP the possibility to manage/write down meeting minutes and relate it to the task/card assignment? You can use cards, on a Meetings Board, to capture Minutes and can use the Checklist function on cards to track detailed actions.
is it possible to create card dependencies between different boards? Dependencies can be created between boards in a workspace (project). They cannot be created between workspaces (projects).
Will there be a discussion on templates for Projectplace?  We know we can apply a template in Enterprise One to push to Projectplace and you can apply a Projectplace template to a workspace being created but can you apply a Projectplace template to an existing workspace? The connector supports that application of a combined Enterprise One schedule template and Projectplace template with boards, cards and documents, to a new Enterprise One project. Please refer to the the Connected Templates topic.
One more question, is there roadmap viability to add functionality to create an Enterprise One project from an existing Projectplace workspace? Great question and we do have this capability on the short term backlog. Ideally this will get pulled in within our next planning/delivery cycle. We see this as a valuable capability to encourage work initiation and delivery in Projectplace pushing up project level entities in Enterprise One. Great question and look for more on this topic.
When do we plan (as project manager with the project team) for the entire project and come up with the project finish date? Yes you can use the Enterprise One scheduling and Projectplace to work with the project team to plan your entire project and determine an end date. However we don;t force you to do this, our tools leave this level of detail of your planning processes up to you/your style of management and ways of working.
Team member may  not have access to Enterprise One and so time tracking only in Projectplace, card level is what we are planning Time reported in Projectplace by users that are not connected into Enterprise One does not flow into Enterprise One.
How do we invite external resource to workspace board even though they are not in the connected Enterprise One project? We support this use case. If the user is also an Enterprise One users then they can be automatically authorized to the project, when assigned to Projectplace cards, in Enterprise One so that they can subsequently report time.
How do you (Can you) map certain Schedule templates with certain workspaces/boards dynamically?  How is this done? The connector supports that application of a combined Enterprise One schedule template and Projectplace template with boards, cards and documents, to a new Enterprise One project. Please refer to the the Connected Templates topic.
Is the Action Item Dashboard available by default? Or  should it be created from us? Please contact your Professional Services representative to discuss getting this dashboard. You will also need an underlying Tabular Model which is used as the data source.
Is this Action Items Dashboard available as a tile in Enterprise 1 today? Please contact your Professional Services representative to discuss getting this dashboard. You will also need an underlying Tabular Model which is used as the data source.
Is this a FastTrack dashboard that is available to all? Please contact your Professional Services representative to discuss getting this dashboard. You will also need an underlying Tabular Model which is used as the data source.
Can the Lesson Learned examples be pulled into the WRK14LL report in PEO so they aren't entering the information in 2 places? No, currently the FastTrack Analytics cannot be configured to display detailed Action Item data. You can display the project level summarized Action Item count data in reports such as the Table Columns (header) section of the WRK14 Project Status Report.
Is there way to get the analytics info from Projectplace to flow into Enterprise One. Would be nice to see something like the burn down chart in Enterprise One The PowerBI dashboard we showed had a Burn Up chart. Creating a Burn Down chart should be a simple change to the report.
