Maximizing Value from Portfolios + Connected AgilePlace: Joining the dots between Project Planning and Delivery Q&As - Webinar

Question Answer
Can I see a replay of the May webinar? Hi! Thank you for joining today! Here is the recording for the Portfolios + Connected ProjectPlace webinar that was in May. https://info.planview.com/MV_Portfolios_Connected_ProjectPlace-_webinar_prm_en_view.html
Can we map phase/stage to team in agile place? AgilePlace focuses on the delivery of work. If using Phases/ Stages in Portfolios, you may 'sync' work withing the Phases/Stages, thereby sending deliverables or work to the backlog of the relevant Agileplce Board. When synchronizing work items with a Team Kanban Board, work will be 'sent' from Portfolios to the AgilePlace Team Board with the scheduled start / finish dates assigned to the 'work line' within Portfolios.
Do you include constrains in your plan? Within the Portfolios Plan, the regular functionality will remain available, including constraints. Constraints do not appear on the card in AgilePlace.
Can you have a blended project where it uses Agile teams work (AgilePlace) and individual resource work (ProjectPlace)? Yes, Portfolios may be synced with both AgilePlace and ProjectPlace within the context of the same Project. The project will have a connected workspace in ProjectPlace. Work items within the project can be sent to one/many AgilePlace Boards to manage the delivery process.
Can you send backlog items from the board to the works schedule in portfolios? In general, the configuration for most Customers provides that the work item in Portfolios is 'synced' (sent to) the backlog of the relevant Team Boad in AgilePlace. Occasionally, a customer configuration may allow cards in AgilePlace to be sent to a specific section of the Portfolios' Plan. As mentioned during the webinar, this requires configuration settings to allow this to work, and we suggest further discussion with a Planview Consultant regarding this topic.
Does the resource assignments get passed from Portfolio Place to Agile Place cards? No. When a work item is 'synced' (sent) from Portfolios to AgilePlace, any Named resource assignments in Portfolios do not appear on the card in AgilePlace.
Can you connect to AP via Strategy? or only via Work (Work Plan)? Work Entities (Projects) in Portfolios can be associated with the 'lowest leaf' of the Portfolios' Strategy Structure (for example a Program), which can also be synchronised in AgilePlace between the created cards as Parent/Child Relationship.
What are the high level differences or use cases for AgilePlace vs ProjectPlace? I see boards and cards in both. In brief, ProjectPlace, at a high level, supports Project Team Delivery. With a one to one relationship with the Project in Portfolios, a Workspace in ProjectPlace is available for the wider Project Team, (and external contributors can be invited to the Workspace (if applicable)); to collaborate, view the work Plan, create and manage cards (including checklists), manage Project documentation and more. AgilePlace essentially provides for the creation of Portfolio boards and fixed team boards to support process driven work and Enterprise Kanban. AgilePlace supports Lean/Agile practices at scale.  Additionally, AgilePlace can integrate 3rd party tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps. A Project (work entity) in Portfolios may be 'synchronized' with both ProjectPlace and AgilePlace.
Is the comment supposed to be received by all owners of the Card? Without the @PlusName in the comment? Any assignee(s) will be notified automatically when a comment is added, (without @mention). Team members who are interested in a card can 'follow' that card and in this case they will also be notified automatically when comments are added and/or updates and changes are made to the card.
Can you move a card to another team without having to recreate it? Yes, AgilePlace supports a card being moved from one board to another board.
I assume this is an Agile project and therefore does not have Critical Path? Portfolios supports many work types and Critical Path Methodology is available within Portfolios' Project (Work Entity). When connected with AgilePlace, a connection can be made at various levels. The critical path would be managed in Portfolios, not AgilePlace. The Portfiolios' dates will be transferred to the relevant level AgilePlace card on initial synchronization.
Is there a JIRA connecter to AgilePlace? Planview Tasktop Hub supports the connection of Planview solutions to more than 60 other platforms including Jira, Azure Devops, Rally, ServiceNow.....
Is there a Requirements Traceability matrix option to the cards, from the tasks? We apologise but we are unable to interpret the question. Please kindly reach out to your Planview contact.
Can you track the capacity of each team (and show it diminishing)? Resource capacity and utilization can be managed in Portfolios using the Resource Management Capability.
In AgilePlace WIP (Work in Progress) limits can set on specific lanes and the system will alert if the sum of the card sizes (points) in that lane exceeds the WIP limit.
You are linking tasks to rollup tasks, mixing them? During the webinar demonstration we shared a use case whereby the Portfolios Project / Epic was synchronized to a Portfolio Kanban Board in AgilePlace. Additionally, we showed a Portfolios' Project Deliverable, (within the project) synchronized with (sent to) the Board of the Team owning the Deliverable in AgilePlace. We also discussed the Individual work lines (being the child lines of the Deliverable in Portfolios) being sent to the backlog of the AgilePlace Team Boards of the Teams responsible for delivering the work. The cards across the different AgilePlace Boards are connected. Planview AgilePlace enables an organization to set up boards to show value delivery at every level of the enterprise: Card Connections can show how value delivery can be broken down from Portfolio Epic/Project to Story/Activity and rolled up from Story/Activity to Portfolio Epic/Project.
We apologise if we have misunderstood the question. For further support, please kindly reach out to your Planview contact.
How do you link the Dev Ops to the AgilePlace cards? Planview Tasktop Hub supports the connection of Planview solutions to more than 60 other platforms including Jira, Azure Devops, Rally, ServiceNow.....
Are there any benefits in continuing to use ProjectPlace's Kanban Board  / Cards or would you recommend using AgilePlace for this colloboration? In brief, ProjectPlace, at a high level, supports Project Team Delivery. With a one to one relationship with the Project in Portfolios, and the workspace in ProjectPlace, this provides the wider Project Team, (and external contributors (if applicable)) a place to collaborate, view the work Plan, create and manage cards (including checklists), manage Project documentation and more. In summary, AgilePlace uses Lean-Agile Principles and Practices such as Kanban to help customers manage Agile planning and execution. AgilePlace gives customers the ability to visualize, measure, and manage the flow of value from beginning to end at all levels of the organization.
Can you share that report again? AgilePlace offers a set of native reports divided into 2 categories : Current State & Historical trend. More information mat be found here; https://success.planview.com/Planvie...lace/Reporting
What does LK in front of the Field Names stand for? LK stands for LeanKit which is the previous name of AgilePlace. We are in transition of updating the references to LeanKit.
The effort of the agile teams will be incorporated to the project's actual effort? To track the effort spent by a member of the Team, the Team Member will need to Report their Time in a Timesheet in Portfolios. Auto Timesheet Functionality can be enabled where a Team member is Allocated to work in Portfolios. We also have an Agile Costing function whereby timesheets can be autogenerated in Portfolios based on the assignment of cards in AgilePlace to resources/teams and the time that a card spends in an active lane.
More information on Agile Costing available here: https://success.planview.com/Planview_Portfolios/Connectors/Planview_Portfolios_and_AgilePlace_Connector/Agile_Costing
We recommend discussing this further with your Planview contact.
