October 2024 Enablement Q&A

Question Answer
Hello, in the future presentation could you clarify the availability time for new Planview.Me widgets? We've seen that once our Portfolios sandbox environment has been updated to the GA version, we're not able to immediately review Planview.Me portfolios widgets that are being released in the same period, but we still wonder when they are going to be released. Definitely! I can go over timing today. Second Thursday of each month anything Planview.Me will be going out. https://success.planview.com/Shared_...oduct_releases
For the "Group By" in the widget, how do we select which fields are available to "Group By" ? Will it be the whole list of alternate structures? Yes – those "Group By" are based on the same set of single-select alternate structures you can use to group data in the Portfolio View screen for example
will we be able to have colors in columns of the work status widgets? like if a status is red, yellow or green? This is something we are definitely envisioning as possible. As soon as we have a better idea of when we will let everyone know.
Planview.me - will the portfolio timesheet be enabled as well? You can access your timesheet through a "My Timesheet" widget today, we are also working on "Timesheet Approval" widget which will enable managers to approve/disapprove timesheets - this is targeted for December 2024. Note that none of these widgets cover portfolio timesheet, but we can think of having it covered in future iterations of Planview.me if we see enough need.
Portfolios work tasks widget: how does a task end up on the list? Does a person need to be assigned to the task / line in the plan? Or is it based on the time period within the plan and taking all tasks from that period? The Work Tasks widget is going to be a representation of the WBS for a portfolio of projects, so this will include all tasks (not based on assignments). This will be very similar to the "Schedule" tab in the Work Plan screen
Is there any update on being able to do incremental refreshes or audit tracking? On the topic of audit tracking/history, we do have an ongoing project to get history coverage across Portfolios (starting with financials). We still don't have a clear target yet for when that will be released however.
Remaining Planned in a Timesheet: can this column be disabled if we don't want to use it? If so, can it be enabled for one group of users and disabled for another, within the same organization? This column can be disabled. Portfolios offers a global option called 'Display Remaining Planned Column on Timesheet?' to allow disabling of this column. THis GLobal option is for all users, and cannot be enabled only for some Users.
Will one the connected sources be JIRA? It will not as Jira intergation is custom, this is only for our productized connector.
any plans for dedicated web services for logbook? Let's say we want to mass upload a lot of record using the web services. Will that be supported? Yes, this is in our backlog and we plan to address with a target availability in the beginning of 2025. Before that becomes available we will release an import function that will enable bulk upload via Excel/csv to start with.
If we have ProjectPlace cards created as apart of the templates in ProjectPlace, this wont be impacted correct as the cards come from ProjectPlace and not created through Portfolios? Correct, anything coming from template will work, but there after the logic will take affect.
'@Mauricio...  is parallel running applicable to dashboards using Automart?  This will be specifically for the OData PowerBI refresh Job type
Will Jobstreams ever be 'smart'... if a individual report failes it skips to the next individual report rather than all down stream reports are not updated? Yes, that one of the future improvements we have as well
Which tool has the "Job Manager"? The Job Manager updates that Elijn is currently presenting refers to Enterprise Architecture
Do we have any update on when we will be able to upgrade to a more recent version of Power BI (from Jan-24) to a more recent version? There was a release in May 2024 which we evaluated but didn't have any major improvements. we will evaluate the next release but most likely will not happen until next year
Erik will the incrementals / audit tracking occur in 2024? I can't speak to the incremental loading, but the audit tracking is not targeted for a release date; likely not 2024
'@Jon High - is there a targeted time that the Legacy view will be removed so that we can inform our users? We don't have a hard date yet, but it will likely be removed in the next 6 months
When is the custom card builder going live? I missed that informaiton. Very soon! It will be released in October
'@Jon High - sorry, I missed part of what you said about merge cards.  This will or will not be available if we do not have copilot turned on? Merging cards will be available if you DO NOT have copilot turned on
'@Jon ... Congrats on the new look and feel! I do have a question, as you showed the ability of merging duplicated cards. Is there a plan on having multiple cards duplicated at the same time? Glad you like the new look and feel! Yes, we plan to add the ability to duplicate multiple cards simultaneously 1st half of next year
For Lobkook, can PV prioritize the implementation of approval/workflow processes?
We want to replace CRI's with Logbook fuinctionality however due to the lack of workflows for Logbook we cannot customize any approval processes.
Logbook workflow is something we will be working on post-GA in 2025, due to it's complexity. We will be discussing this in future inner circles. We'd also be happy to have a 1:1 meeting to review your process to understand your use case, later as we are starting to plan working on Workflows. Thanks!
Will completing the cards  set the activity to done in both projectplace and portfolios regardless of where you choose to manage the plan? The status of the activity will be automatically set to done, and it will support the same behavior in an integrated setting as if you would have set it manually to done.
When enabling failure notifications for a job stream, is it possible to have different recipients for the different job streams? I currently have 3 Admins assigned on each of my job streams. However, if I need the 3 on one job stream (Daily Job for example) and only need 2 of those people on the next job stream (Email Notifications), how can I do that. Right now, it appears when I remove the extra person from the Email Notification job stream, it removes that person from all other job stream notifications in which they existed. Can we customize the email notification recipients to be unique per job stream? Hope that all made sense! :) Thanks! Yes that makes sense. however the functionality today is accross jobstreams, so everyone on the list gets notified when any jobstream fails.
Hello Team ‚ INeed to get more details on the ‚"Remaining Planned" Column in Time Sheet. This will bring the data from Task Level or calculate for the time sheet user only. Thanks ! If I understand your question correctly, Remaining Planned column update will be only in timesheet, for the Time user, and will reflect what is actually remaining progressed or not.
On the Task Remaining effort will still be base don what is progressed, and in future we will be providing a new column for Task which would reflect both progressed and unprogressed to inform PM.
For UP, is there an ETA for the certification exam for Portfolios Admin? This exam will be available for partners by the end of the month along with the final course in the plan, Reports & Tiles.
