Duplicate Deployment Plans

Introduction

Duplicate a single Deployment Plan

Duplicating a Deployment Plan saves your time from re-entering information.

When a Master Deployment Plan is duplicated on its own, its Systems and Releases are not duplicated because they are assigned in, and belong to, the child Deployment Plans.

When a Deployment Plan is duplicated, the Release value will not be duplicated and will be empty if that Release was at the End State Status.

The Duplicated Deployment Plans have their mode set to Draft.

The Audit History of the Deployment Plan is not duplicated, but the user performing the duplication will be marked as the creator of the plan in the new Audit History.

Duplicate a family of Deployment Plans

When a Master Deployment Plan with its ‘family’ (‘child’ Deployment Plans) is selected for a duplication, Activity Sets will be duplicated by default, as well as Activities Dependencies within this ‘family’.

Pre-requisite

You must have the ‘Create Master Deployment Plan’ or the ‘Create Deployment Plan’ user permission.

Duplicate Master Deployment Plan

Either individual Master Deployment Plan or Master Deployment Plan with its ‘family’ can be duplicated.

For Master Deployment Plan fill in the following:

New Deployment Plan Name: Enter a new name for the duplicate Deployment Plan.

‘Child’ Deployment Plans: Select whether ‘child’ Deployment Plans need to be duplicated, and which ones.

Items to Include in Duplicate:

Include items by selecting one or more of the following checkboxes. Items are greyed out if they do not exist in the Deployment Plan and therefore cannot be duplicated.

  • Activities: Activity Sets are not duplicated. Set the Planned Start Time for the first Activity.
    • Users select the day for the first Activity to start and Activities will cascade down from this selected date.
    • For example, if there are three Activities each lasting two days, and the date selected is next Monday, the first Activity will start on Monday, the second on Wednesday, and the final one on Friday.
    • If Users want to adjust times, they can do so by bulk updating the Activities in the Deployment Plan Activity tab.
  • Activity Attachments
  • Checkpoints: Set the Checkpoint Time for the first Checkpoint. Any following Checkpoint times will cascade down from the first Checkpoint.
  • Issue Questions: Issue Answers are not duplicated because they are associated with the child Deployment Plan.
  • Additional Information: Additional Information can be included or excluded in a duplicated Master Deployment Plan and its ‘child’ Deployment Plans.
