Creating custom metadata: customers can create their own metadata using polls to be able to segment guides any way possible, Best practice is to create an "Introducing Adopt" pop-up that all users see to introduce the idea of custom-branded guides and tips, and with that have a mandatory poll which asks the users to update their data: e.g.
- What is your primary role?
- What is your business unit?
- What manufacturing line do you work with?
- Can you be an accidental project manager if needed?
- What region are you in?
All users then fill that out and using the Poll answers you can create the segments for each answer and then you can target all the guides based on your own personnel metadata.
Adopt FAQ
- Data Security: Adopt only has access to the webpage elements; e.g. the buttons, labels, page names - it does not have any access to the data entered in any fields. Customer data is strictly between the customer and Planview and does not go to Pendo. Planview has partnered with Pendo for years and as part of that partnership, provided access to the page and feature names for internal use of Pendo and guide creation by Planview. Adopt now just let's customers create their own guides and access the analytics via the existing Planview+Pendo configuration - it does not allow Pendo any access to customer information. Pendo only stores on their servers the Adopt guides created by customers.

- Background on the Planview and Pendo partnership: Planview has partnered with Pendo for years, using guides to notify customers of new features and announcements. We have also used the analytics to understand customer usage of new features and how users navigate through the products. Each company that Planview has acquired already used Pendo - which is why Adopt is available on the entire Planview platform; Pendo is the industry leader that SAAS companies use for guides and analytics. Planview Adopt lets Planview customers access to all the existing analytics Planview has configured, and then the ability to create your own custom guides.
- Environments: Adopt is available in production and sandbox environments with the exception of ProjectPlace - which only has production available at this time.
- Localization: Adopt supports 79 languages
- Performance: Planview Adopt content is rendered on the webpage immediately after the Planview content, with a display time of 50-300ms depending on the number of guides on the page.
- If Pendo is down: if Pendo is down or has issues, any Adopt guides would not display, but all Planview content would display as normal with no errors.
