Lifecycle Approvals widget
Description
The Lifecycle Approvals widget displays all work, strategy, and outcome lifecycle items that require your approval. Managers and executives can use this widget to quickly and easily manage their lifecycle approvals with fewer clicks than by using the lifecycle screens in Planview Portfolios.

NOTE
The widget does not display the following items:
- Request lifecycle items
- Changes, risks, or issues (CRIs)
- Support tickets
The information displayed depends on where the widget is located:
- In Planview.Me, the widget displays information about all work, strategy, and outcome lifecycle items that need your approval.
- In Planview Portfolios, the widget displays information about all work, strategy, and outcome lifecycle items that need your approval on the Overview tab on My Overview.

Available functionality
Users with the required lifecycle role who are responsible for approving lifecycle steps, such as project managers and program managers, can perform the following procedures. For more information, see Lifecycles.
How-to video
To approve a lifecycle step:

to open the Approve lifecycle step screen. -
(Optional) In the Comments box, enter notes or comments.
- Click Approve.
To disapprove a lifecycle step:
- Click
to open the Disapprove lifecycle step screen. - In the Comments box, enter the reason why you are disapproving the step.
- Click Disapprove.
To view a lifecycle step in Planview Portfolios:
Click the lifecycle step row or the lifecycle step name link.
To delegate a lifecycle step to a different user:
Click

To review the item related to the lifecycle step in Planview Portfolios:
- Click
. One of the following appears:
- If the item is an entity item, the entity item appears.
- If the item is a document, a preview of the document appears.
- Use the controls in the menu bar to review the document:
- To view the next page of the document, click
- To view the previous page, click
- To zoom in, click
- To zoom out, click
- To reset the view to 100%, click
- To download the file, click
- To change the pagination to vertical scrolling, click
- To change vertical scrolling back to horizontal pagination, click
- To view the next page of the document, click
NOTES
Document files up to 10MB in size and of the following file formats are supported in the previewer:
- image file types
- .txt
- Microsoft Office document files (.doc, .docx, .odt, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx), which are converted to .pdf format in the previewer
Audio and video files cannot be previewed in the previewer, but can be downloaded from it
To preview a document file that is 10MB or larger:
- Click the document file link in the lifecycle step. The Planview Portfolios Evaluate Lifecycle Document screen appears.
- In the Evaluate field, click the document file link. The Review Content screen appears.
- In the right pane under the file name, click Read. The document file is downloaded.
- After reviewing the document file, close the Review Content screen.
- To return to the widget, click the back arrow beside Evaluate Lifecycle Document.
To view the entity screen view for the related entity (work, strategy, or outcome):

To access the Schedule view for the related work item or strategy:
For work items and strategies, you can access the Schedule view on the Plan screen for the relevant work item or the Strategy Schedule screen for the relevant strategy in Planview Portfolios.

To open the Status History screen:
You can view the history of status changes for the relevant work item, strategy, or outcome in Planview Portfolios.

To view the lifecycle step details:

. The Edit Lifecycle Model screen for the lifecycle step in Planview Portfolios appears.
