APM – Software Health/Risk

Description

This solution relies on two capabilities from the Technology Portfolio, the Deployed S/W and Health/Risk Analysis capabilities. It may be desirable to implement the Deployed Technology Analysis solution first, which includes those capabilities, among others.

We highly recommend capturing deployed software via a data feed from a CMDB, joined with BDNA Technopedia manufacturer lifecycle data. A full integration with normalization and stale data processing works best.
  • Establish the inventory of applications, with basic identifying and ownership information.
  • Load the applications deployed software footprint, with deployed software mapped to their types of products and versions with the manufacturer lifecycle.
  • Identify what applications are at risk due to obsolete, end-of-life, or approaching end-of-life software, and set the recommendation value on the application to indicate the initial conclusion as to what action should be taken in response to the risk.

Populate “top 10” applications, and fully document them for the capabilities in scope. Inventory all applications, populate as much data as possible for the capabilities in scope.
