About Requests

This video provides an overview of requests. Duration: 7 min.

Requests allow organizations to manage demand for work by creating a single entry point for work requests, and automating the process of evaluating and approving work requests. The outcome of a request is the creation of an item, which is an PPM Pro project, issue, or task. After it is created, the item can then be managed by PPM Pro.

Requests are characterized by their type, which is a set of information that is pre-defined by an administrator. Each request type also has a standard evaluation process automated by the system. The evaluation process for a request is comprised of gates, or milestones along the evaluation route for gathering additional information and approvals. Based on how the administrator sets up the request type, the system routes requests to the person or team that owns each gate; gate owners then edit, approve or reject the requests. Requests can optionally generate a new task, issue,or  project in the system that can then be managed using PPM Pro. See Lifecycle of a Request for more information.

You access your requests from Home/Requests or the top-level Requests tab.

  • For members of the Organization group, the top-level Requests tab lists all requests created by your organization. Use the filters to display specific lists of requests awaiting your approval, waiting to be scored, or created by you. Full users who are not in the Organization group will see requests they have created, can approve, or can score.

  • Home/Requests lists the requests that the current user created, can approve, or can score. Also can use the filters to display specific lists of requests awaiting the current user's approval, waiting to be scored, or created by the current user.

Request Approvers access requests at the Requests and Home/Request tabs.

See Working with the Requests List page for more information. See Request Statuses for definitions of each request status.

Requests and Scoring

Requests can be scored provided the request type is configured for scoring. For more information, see Assigning a scoring profile to a project or request type.
