Using Manual Task Mode

Changing the task scheduling mode determines whether the task Start and Target Dates are calculated using constraints and dependencies.

Tasks are in Automatic mode by default - Start and Target Dates are calculated using constraints and dependencies. If you schedule a task on a non-working day (as determined by the project calendar), PPM Pro automatically converts the task to Manual. Otherwise, tasks remain in Automatic mode unless explicitly switched to Manual.

  1. Navigate to MyProject/Tasks. If the Tasks link is not available, contact the project Owner and ask for rights to create tasks.
  2. Select the task and click the Details tab.
  3. In the Scheduling section, select the Manually Scheduled? checkbox to turn on that option for the task.
  4. Click Save.

In the Gantt Chart, Manually Scheduled tasks will display as grey bars with blue border.  In the task grid, a icon will appear in the information column.

To change multiple tasks

  1. Multi-select the tasks you wish to switch to manual (use Shift-click or Ctrl-click).
  2. Choose Actions > Bulk Edit.
  3. Enable the Manually Scheduled? option for each task.
  4. Click Save.
