Because of this fluidity, the analysis of the application portfolio should be as flexible as the content. In this section, we will cover best practices for application portfolio analysis.

The realization of benefits in the overall effort to manage your application portfolio will come when the analysis of the portfolio begins. With this comes the recognition that application portfolio analysis is fundamentally a comparative exercise. Different applications in the portfolio (or portfolio views) will have different attributes and performance measures (KPDs). These attributes and performance measures will be used by the analysis capabilities of the Planview APM solution to provide unique, actionable insight.
