What Is an Enterprise and Fiscal Calendar?

The default Enterprise and Fiscal Calendar is available if you or another administrator configures the product for Financial Management. The calendar's default information is automatically generated by the database when Planview Portfolios is installed.

When defining or modifying a financial-planning model, you associate it with the Enterprise and Fiscal Calendar you want financial planning and investment and capacity planning to use.The calendar defines the time periods in which financial data can be captured for financial planning and investment and capacity planning. The default Enterprise and Fiscal Calendar defines the time increments available for the periods used for sponsorship. The lowest level of periods defined in that calendar determines the periods referenced by some columns that display when you configure investment and capacity planning alerts.

You or another administrator must modify the default Enterprise and Fiscal Calendar before configuring financial-planning models or setting up the other areas that calendar support. In most cases, modifying the default Enterprise and Fiscal Calendar is sufficient. There are some cases, such as company acquisitions, that might necessitate the need for you or another administrator to create additional Enterprise and Fiscal Calendars.

WARNING

The product supports creating multiple Enterprise and Fiscal Calendars to help you move all business units (some perhaps newly acquired) to a consolidated calendar that reflects the merged enterprise. You should strive to use one consolidated fiscal calendar with all financial-planning models you create for the merged enterprise. If there are additional Enterprise and Fiscal Calendars in your product, contact your Planview representative for assistance with consolidating the default Enterprise and Fiscal Calendar with the single fiscal calendar used for all financial-planning models.
