Managing Agile Projects
Summary
This best practice explains the concepts, principles, and roles regarding Agile Project Management.
The Nature and Purpose of Agile Project Management
Unlike a traditional “waterfall” or BDUF (Big Design Up Front) approach, the Agile methodology embraces uncertainty and allows the flexibility to adapt a product to customer needs throughout its development, with minimal waste. According to the Agile Manifesto, a document developed in 2001 by 17 notable experts on various Agile-like software development methodologies, Agile differs from other approaches in that it values:
- Individuals and interactions --- over processes and tools
- Working software ----------------over comprehensive documentation
- Customer collaboration----------over contract negotiation
- Responding to change------------over following a plan
