Creating Investment and Capacity Planning Portfolios

Summary

Before funding can be allocated to programs and projects, and alternative investment scenarios can be examined, it is necessary to first create Planning portfolios (i.e., portfolios of investments such as programs, projects, products, etc. that will be used to deliver on organizational strategy). The investments within these portfolios can then be ranked, analyzed, and balanced against available capacity. This best practice explores the basic concept of planning portfolios, including associated financial models, and planning horizons.
