Reviewing Work Associated with or Allocated to a Strategic Entity

This article applies to Planview Enterprise 11.5 and greater.

In Planview Enterprise 14, you can review information about work associated with a strategic entity. In Planview Enterprise 11.5, 12, and 13, you can review information about work allocated to a strategic entity.

Reviewing Work-Strategy Associations (Planview Enterprise 14)

To review information about work associated with a strategic entity:

  1. Navigate to the Strategy View screen.

  2. Click the Associated Work tab.

The tab's Work column includes the name of each work item associated with the strategic entity. The values displayed in the tab's Financial % column indicate what percentage of the relevant work item is allocated to the selected strategic entity.  

Reviewing Work-Strategy Allocations (Planview Enterprise 11.5, 12, and 13)

To review information about work allocated to a strategic entity:

  1. Navigate to the Strategy View screen.

  2. Click the Allocated Work tab.

Data about the work allocated to the selected strategy is displayed on the Allocated Work tab, which includes the columns and buttons described in the following table. Not all columns are displayed for each level of the Strategy structure.

Column or Button

Description

Work

Identifies the name of the work allocated to either the selected strategic entity or to one of its children.

Work ID

Indicates the Work ID of the relevant work.

This column is displayed only if your administrator enabled the Display Work ID strategic option.

Tactic

Indicates the selected strategic entity's investment status decision in regards to the relevant work.

This column is displayed only if your administrator enabled Investment Status Shared Approval and you are reviewing data at the lowest level of the Strategy structure.

Overall

Reflects the overall investment status of a project across all programs to which it is allocated.

This column is displayed only if your administrator enabled Investment Status Shared Approval and you are reviewing data at the lowest level of the Strategy structure.

Allocated Percentage

Indicates what percentage of the work is allocated to the selected strategic entity.

Allocated By

Identifies who allocated the work to the selected strategic entity.

Allocated On

Indicates when the work was allocated to the selected strategic entity.

Opens the Review Lifecycle screen, which allows you to review and edit the lifecycle associated with the relevant entity.

Note that this button gives you access to lifecycle information of a work item, but can also give you access to lifecycle information of the selected strategic entity.

the work schedule button, which is displayed as a square with some lines on it

Opens the Work Schedule screen, which allows you to review schedule information for the relevant work.

the open Financial Planning Detail screen button, which is displayed as a line chart

Opens the Financial Planning Detail screen, which allows you to review accounts in the strategic financial plan.

You can review strategic financial plans only if the system is configured to permit you such access.

From the bottom tray, this button gives you access to the financial plan of the selected strategy, and from the top tray, this button provides access to a summary of the financial plans of all strategic entities in the current portfolio.

Opens the screen from which you can manage the content associated with the work.

Note that this button gives you access to the content of a work item, but this same button in the toolbar gives you access to the content of the selected strategy.

The content-related buttons are displayed if the system is configured to support the Content Management system.

Lets you launch a SharePoint site associated with work allocated to a strategy; available only for work allocated to a strategy and associated with a SharePoint site.
