Resolve Competing Priorities and Resource Issues

Summary

Resource assignment conflicts must be continually addressed to develop and maintain credible projections and avoid frustration resulting from unreasonable expectations.

There are many powerful software functions within the Resources menu in Planview Enterprise that allow resource managers to see the workload of resources in the current portfolio and reassign work to balance out the workload. From these screens, managers can also respond to requirements and requests for allocations and reservations.

This best practice examines processes for assessing the cause and severity of resource conflicts, establishing realistic workload expectations, and better defining work priorities. It also offers suggestions for addressing resource conflicts when they do occur.

To read the full best practice beyond this abstract, you must be a PRISMS subscriber. See your Planview administrator for details.
