How does the access permission work in Cognos?(CP2014 SP2)

Option 1: all users can see all reports but not edit them
On Properties of the Public folder, add "System administrators" group with all permissions, set other permissions as shown (you can multi-select groups to set permissions). Authors and Consumers groups need "read", "execute" and "traverse" permissions. Select "delete access permissions of all child entries" checkbox.
Report authors will be able to edit reports, but not save them. They can do a "save as" to their "my folders" area or to a public folder they have access to

Option 2: a report or folder is restricted to specific users, e.g. this folder is restricted to users having the "Development" role in Changepoint. Remove all permissions except for the system administrators and add the specific user or role with the "read", "execute" and "traverse" permissions, as shown.

Option 3: all users can run reports in a folder but only administrators can edit the reports. Only grant "execute" and "traverse" permissions to all users except System Administrators (which have all permissions). Users can run the reports from Cognos Connection, but cannot edit any reports. Note: the reports and folders configured this way will not be visible in Changepoint.
