How do I make an export and import of Cognos report package ? (CP 2012 SP1)

QUESTION:
How do I make a export and import Cognos configuration?

ANSWER:
Exporting report packages

1. In Cognos Connection, in the upper-right corner, click the Launch arrow and then click IBM Cognos Administration.

2. Click the Configuration tab, and then click Content Administration.

3. Click the New Export icon in the upper-right corner.

4. Specify a name for the task and leave the other attributes blank. Click Next.

5. Specify the folders that you want to export:

6. If you want to export the entire content store for a back up, select the Select the entire Content Store box and click Next.

7. If, when you import an archive the next time, you do not want to overwrite the entire content store but only some of the folders, you can specify that only those folders be exported now for a backup. Select those folders and click Next.

8. Accept the default name of the archive file and click Next.

9. Enter a password. This password will be used to decrypt the exported archive file later. Click OK.

10. On the Review the summary - New Export wizard page, review the details. To continue, click Next ; to make changes, click Back.
Select the Save and run once box and click Finish.

Note: The location of where the extract saves is dependent on where the customer has installed Cognos. ie //Cognos/deployment/

You may also search in the contents of the Cognos install folder for the archive created with the export instructions. ie if the archive created is Cognos_Extract, there will be a Cognos_Extract.zip created.

Importing report packages

Before you begin

Make sure that the report package created in the Export steps (ie Rational_Example_Reports.zip) has been copied from the //Cognos/deployment/ directory to the default deployment location, which is //Cognos/deployment/

To import the report package:

1. Start Cognos® Connection and, in the upper-right corner, click the Launch arrow and then click IBM Cognos Administration.

2. Click the Configuration tab, click Content Administration, and in the upper right corner, click the New Import icon.

3. In the New Import wizard page, select the name of the archive from which you want to import the sample reports, and click Next.

4. Accept the default name and location, and click Next.

5. On the Public folders content page, select the folders you want to import. To select all the public folders, select the checkbox next to Name. Click Next.

6. On the General options page, do not change any of the default values. Click Next.

7. On the Review the summary page, review your choice and click Next.

8. On the Select an action page, select Save and run once or Save and schedule, and click Finish.

9. On the Run with options page, do not change any of the default values. Click Run > OK.

A status of succeeded will display if the report package imported correctly.
