After upgrading to 2014 SP2 and applying the pre-upgrade patch 17.02.065.400: When trying to launch Changepoint, the following message is generated:

Symptoms

Server Error in '/' Application.

Unable to retrieve authentication token

Reason

The rest application (Changepoint WebAPI) was not created under the Changepoint Enterprise site as a virtual application.

Resolution

Created the rest application (Changepoint WebAPI) under the Changepoint Enterprise site as a virtual application in IIS.

Additional Notes

The Changepoint WebAPI is deployed within the Enterprise web site as a virtual application. By default this virtual application is named "rest". If you change the name of the virtual application you must also change the Enterprise web.config to reflect this change (configuration.appSettings.WebApiPath).

The virtual application utilizes its own application pool
