Notifications when a contract is closing on renewal is sent when a new contract is created

QUESTION:
We have configured an alert on our Engagements to email the Sales Rep when their contracts are closing in on renewal, however they are emailing every time a new one is created, why?


ANSWER:
Since the notifications are triggered by a change in the entity and not a date, using an email notification for that purpose really isn't a good fit.
The recommendation is to use an exception report instead, that can be emailed to each sales rep.
In Cognos, it can be done using a burst report. In report designer, several report schedules can be created, one per sales rep.
